Turn an MP4, WebM or MOV clip into a GIF: pick the start, length and frame rate, then make it as small as it can be while it still looks right. Runs in your browser; your video is never uploaded.
Drop a video
MP4, WebM or MOV. APNG, still images and short videos work too. Runs on your device; nothing is uploaded, no size limit, no watermark.

How it works
Your browser decodes the video itself. The tool grabs frames at the rate you choose, then builds the GIF with the same engine as our GIF compressor: one palette for the whole clip so colours don’t flicker, pixels that don’t change aren’t sent again, and a search for the smallest GIF that still passes the quality guard (or the best-looking one under your size limit).
Getting a good GIF from a video
Keep it short. 2 to 5 seconds is the sweet spot for chat and social posts.
12 to 15 fps looks smooth for most clips and keeps the file far smaller than 25 or 30 fps.
Mind the width. 480 px is plenty for chat; halving the width roughly quarters the file.
GIF shows at most 256 colours per frame, so colourful video gets a fine grain. For full colour, choose APNG output.
Drop an MP4, WebM or MOV file, choose where to start, how long the GIF should be and how many frames per second, then press Make it. You can also set a width and a size limit.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Your browser decodes the video and builds the GIF on your device. That also means there is no upload wait and no file size cap.
Which video formats work?
Anything your browser can play: MP4 (H.264) and WebM almost everywhere, and MOV files recorded on iPhone in Safari and most Chrome builds. If a file won’t open, convert it to MP4 first.
How do I keep the GIF small?
Shorter clips, fewer frames per second and a smaller width make the biggest difference. Or choose "Under a size" and type the limit; you get the best-looking GIF that fits.
What’s the longest GIF I can make?
Up to 300 frames, for example 20 seconds at 15 fps. Longer clips get a lower frame rate automatically so phones don’t run out of memory.
